Step-by-step instructions for installing AppHaul on your system.

Windows

Installation instructions

System Requirements

  • Windows 10 version 1903 or later
  • 64-bit processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • 100MB available disk space

Installation Steps

  1. 1

    Download the installer

    Download AppHaul-Setup.exe from the downloads section above.

  2. 2

    Run the installer

    Double-click the downloaded file. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click 'More info' then 'Run anyway'.

    Follow the setup wizard

    Accept the license agreement and choose your installation directory. The default location is recommended.

    Complete installation

    Click 'Install' and wait for the process to complete. You can optionally create a desktop shortcut.

    Launch AppHaul

    Find AppHaul in your Start menu or desktop and launch it to start backing up your apps.

Troubleshooting

Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer

Click 'More info' then 'Run anyway'. The app is safe but not yet signed with an EV certificate.

Installation fails with permission error

Right-click the installer and select 'Run as administrator'.

App doesn't detect all installed programs

Some apps installed via Microsoft Store may require additional permissions. Run AppHaul as administrator.

macOS

Installation instructions

System Requirements

  • macOS 11 Big Sur or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • 100MB available disk space
  • Homebrew installed for app restoration

Installation Steps

  1. 1

    Download the DMG

    Download AppHaul.dmg from the downloads section above.

  2. 2

    Open the DMG file

    Double-click the downloaded DMG file to mount it. A new window will open.

  3. 3

    Drag to Applications

    Drag the AppHaul icon to the Applications folder shortcut in the window.

  4. 4

    Eject the DMG

    Right-click the mounted DMG on your desktop and select 'Eject'.

    Launch AppHaul

    Open your Applications folder and double-click AppHaul. On first launch, you may need to approve it in Security settings.

Troubleshooting

"AppHaul can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, then click 'Open Anyway'.

App crashes on launch

Make sure you're running macOS 11 or later. Try downloading the latest version.

Full Disk Access required

AppHaul needs Full Disk Access to scan all applications. Grant it in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access.
